Sea turtles
are large and impressive creatures belonging
to the family of sea reptiles. There are several
species of sea turtle in the Park. Two of
them are: the herbivore Green Turtle and the
Hawksbill Turtle, which eats sea anemones,
sea cucumbers,
, sponges and mollusks. The turtle pool is divided
in two. One part contains adult turtles, mostly
females. A sandy island was built in the center.
Here, in breeding season, eggs are laid which
will hatch into baby turtles. In this pool there
are also Kurl's stingrays, relatives of the
shark, belonging to the family of elasmobranchii
(having no bones, only cartilage).
The
other part of the pool is reserved for the young
turtles, all born within the Park . Turtle feedings
take place each day at 12:30.
